Privacy Policy

Step Team is built around friendly competition, not around collecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create a Step Team account, we collect your email address and username. That is the only information you provide directly to us.

Apple Health and fitness data. With your permission, Step Team reads step count and exercise minute data from Apple Health. We only request the data needed to score your matchups and brackets, and we never pull more than the last 30 days at a time.

Timezone. You can choose a timezone in your profile. This is used to set bracket deadlines consistently for you and your opponents.

Device and usage data. We collect basic diagnostic and crash data to keep the app running smoothly, plus push notification tokens if you opt in to alerts.

How we use your information

To run your brackets, matchups, and leaderboards.
To send bracket reminders and result notifications you opt into.
To fix bugs, improve performance, and keep your account secure.
To respond to support requests at support@stepteamapp.com.

Apple Health data

Step Team reads Apple Health data only after you grant permission, and only for the specific types needed by the app: steps and exercise minutes. We do not sell this data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything outside of scoring your competition. You can revoke access at any time in the Apple Health app under Privacy & Security → Apps → Step Team.

Push notifications

If you opt in, we send push notifications for bracket updates, matchup results, and important deadlines. You can turn these off anytime in your device settings.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with the law, protect our rights, or keep the community safe.

Data security and retention

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your account and health data. Health data is used to score brackets and is not retained longer than necessary. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@stepteamapp.com.

Children's privacy

Step Team is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your choices

Update or delete your account by contacting support.
Revoke Apple Health access in your device settings.
Disable push notifications in your device settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Step Team after changes means you accept the updated policy.
